Our Team
Laura & Andrew
Since 2019, we have been transitioning our urban lot into a food forest; expanding the annual vegetable crop area, propagating a large variety of perennial herbs, and adding a variety of berry bushes and fruit trees. We share a passion for growing food in a way that is healthy and beneficial to the ecosystem. We are working towards permaculture market farming and interested in increasing edible plantings in urban areas.
We have been growing vegetables and fruit in home gardens for 20+ years. We are keen observers of nature and enjoy spending as much time as possible outside. Laura has received a Permaculture Design Certification, participated in a farm foundation training program, and volunteered on organic farms. Andrew is a woodworker and has built the initial infrastructure on the property related to the food forest, including farm stand, workbenches, raised beds, cold frames, and a chicken coop.
The Chickens
Responsible for controlling bugs and slugs, producing manure, turning compost, and egg laying…..oh, who are we kidding? We love these curious characters! Elm and Birch (Rhode Island Red chickens) have (finally) welcomed Pecan, Acorn, and Rowan (Black Copper Marans) into the flock.
